On June 11, members of the Rockaway Valley Garden Club met at the Emily Hammond Wildflower Trail to celebrate winning first place in the National Garden Clubs’ Outdoor Classrooms/Nature Trails competition. Nicole Hudson headed the evidence committee that applied for the award. Judy Schindler contacted local grammar schools, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and arranged tours for the children. Lee Gaitskill created lessons for each of the six habitats. Diane Nelson photographed native wildflowers.
