They’re making a difference

Rockaway Valley in Boonton Township conducted a book drive for the Casmir Pulaski and Passaic High schools in Passaic for Make A Difference Day, in conjunction with MLK Day. Student council members collected books from classrooms throughout the week of Jan. 14. Local Girl Scout Troops 540, 46 and 655 helped to sort, clean, box and deliver the books to the two schools. It took three trips to Passaic to carry them. More than 2,000 books, mostly new, were collected and donated to share Rockaway Valley School's love of reading and meet Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s challenge to make a difference for others. This annual drive has been held for more than 12 years and this year's count is the highest yet. photo: diff day
