Entech workers dig in to make Technical Park a greener place

Entech employees took to the lawn of Denville Technical Park recently, armed with three Red Oak trees to commemorate both Earth Day and Arbor Day.

The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has recognized buildings as the number one source of greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide).  The trees, measuring about 10 feet tall, were planted to help reduce greenhouse gases and enhance the corporate campus.

The Northern Red Oak, the official state tree of New Jersey, can grow up to two feet a year for ten years, reaching between 60 and 75 feet tall. Trees not only clean the air and produce oxygen, but also stabilize soil, control noise pollution, create shade and provide wildlife habitat and protection.

As the United States becomes more aware of global climate change, Entech’s goal is to become a leader in minimizing greenhouse gases, promoting the use of renewable energies and creating sustainable environments.  To help support this role, Entech is seeking to obtain accreditation in the USGBC’s Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED) program.  LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.

Earth Day, annually celebrated on April 22, is intended to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the Earth's environment while Arbor Day, observed this year on April 25, encourages individuals and groups to plant and care for trees.
