The Unforgettable Cary Grant

Join Wharton Historical Society for an evening with Cary Grant. Author Bill Levy, who offers many programs on Hollywood’s Golden Era, will present "The Unforgettable Cary Grant" on May 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Wharton Library, 15 South Main St. The public is invited. Free admission and refreshments.

Carnival

Spaghetti Dinner

American Legion Rockden Post 175, 76 Franklin Avenue, Rockaway, will host a spaghetti dinner on May 10, 5-8 p.m., $9. Spaghetti and meatballs, salad, garlic bread, glass of wine, coffee and desert. Call 973-627-6791.

Charity Motorcycle Poker Run

Rockaway Rotary will have its Charity Motorcycle Poker Run, picnic and pig roast on May 10. Check-in at Little Lerner Academy, 25 Green Pond Rd., Suite 2, Rockaway, 10-noon. Yard Sale Plus

Grace United Methodist Church, corner of Route 46 and No. Sussex Street, Dover will hold a Yard Sale Plus on Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household goods, clothing, toys, plants and baked goods will be sold. Also visit God's Thrift Shop in the church basement. Buy mom a nice plant for Mother's Day.

Mom’s Day Gift Helps Others

Give a gift to mom, or in memory of or in honor of, through Trinity Lutheran Church and the Church World Service Blanket project. For $5 purchase a blanket to be used as emergency shelter, a suitcase, a sleeping bag and a comforter. Mail check to Trinity Lutheran Church, 123 E. Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ 07801 along with name and the name of the person being honored. For an acknowledgement, enclose a self-addressed envelope.

WOTM Patriotic Dinner Dance

The United Methodist Church of Rockaway is looking for vendors and crafters to participate in the 28th annual Spring Fair on May 17, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m., on the church grounds, 1 Hoagland Ave., Rockaway. Borough of Rockaway Historical Committee will meet: May 19 at 10 a.m.; June 23 at 10 a.m.; July 28 at 7:30 p.m.; Aug. 25 at 10 a.m.; Sept. 22 at 10 a.m.;  Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 24 at 10 a.m.; Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. Meetings are held at The Community Center, Union St., Rockaway Borough. Stay Connected to Jewish Roots

White Meadow Temple, Rockaway, is offering a session with Leora Rosenblum who served the University of Miami Hillel. She will discuss the ins and outs of staying connected to the Jewish community on a college campus. The session, on May 23 at 7 p.m., will include a dessert reception, free to all Jewish high school seniors, but they must RSVP, 973-627-4500, to ensure that there will be adequate refreshments.

HCM Meeting and Memorial Golf Outing

The Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association will hold its annual meeting May 30 - June 1 at the Hyatt Hotel in Morristown. The meeting brings together medical professionals and affected patients and families. HCM is the leading cause of sudden death in the young. To register, visit www.4hcm.org. WMT Golf Outing

White Meadow Temple will hold its 6th annual golf outing at Picatinny Arsenal Golf Club on June 19. $120 p/p, $450/foursome includes lunch, dinner, golf door prizes and golf contests. Ceili Dance

Ski Club

High Life Ski and Social Club offers a variety of year-round activities, not just skiing and snowboarding. The club has a lodge in Vermont open for year-round use by all members and their guests. In addition, they run multiple trips to destination resorts. They have a winning ski team. Meetings are held every Tuesday at 8 p.m. at The Exchange Restaurant in Rockaway.

Business Owners Assn.

Rockaway Borough Business Owners Association is a non-profit organization that meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Community Center, Union St., Rockaway Borough. Dover Rec. Meetings

Dover Recreation Commission holds its regular public meeting on the first Thursday of each month (except where specified on second Thursday) 7 p.m. at Dover Town Hall, 37 North Sussex St., in the Court Room.

BINGO at St. Mary’s

St. Mary’s, 345 South Main St., Wharton, hosts Bingo every Saturday at 7 p.m. in the school. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. There is a weekly progressive and 50/50 game in addition to the regular scheduled games. Food and beverages available 6 p.m. through intermission.

Daytime Bingo

American Legion Post 27, 2 Legion Place, Dover, holds Bingo on Wednesdays, noon - 3 p.m. Early bird 50/50 at 11:45 a.m.; $1,000 in prizes. Doors open at 9 a.m. Hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled to order; sandwiches made fresh; coffee, tea, soda.

Smoke-Free Bingo

Play bingo in a smoke-free environment every Monday at the Parish Center at Sacred Heart, N. Essex Street, Dover. Doors open 5:30 p.m. Games begin at 7:30 p.m. A smoking break is provided.

Conversational Partners

Anyone who is a good listener, a "people person" can become a conversational partner for people who want to learn English in a unique ESL program. No knowledge of Spanish is necessary. Familias en Paz

Familias en Paz (Families in Peace), a group for Latino women who have problems in their relationships, meets at St. Catherine Health Center, Saint Clare’s, Dover, 7-9 p.m. Mondays. To register, call 973-625-7035 Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 973-537-3855 Mondays and Thursdays.

Rockaway Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of the Rockaways provides time at meetings for community members to discuss their business, occupation, civic organization or other areas of interest.
