Summer Computer Classes
Discover how to find great deals and free stuff online in Rockaway Township Library's new computer class "Freebies and Cheapies on the Web.” The summer class schedule includes computer basics courses as well as beginner and intermediate level sessions on Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. For job seekers, the library teaches computer labs on sleuthing a job ad and on the best free job hunting Web sites. The June-August schedule can be downloaded from the library Web site www.rtlibrary.org/computerclasses.html. Computer classes are free for Rockaway Township residents age 18 and above. Mystery of Sleep
The Jewish Seniors Program at White Meadow Temple, 153 White Meadow Road, will be held Wednesday, July 1. Joey Bella Tricky Tray

Joey Bella Memorial Fund
The 20th annual Joey Bella Memorial Fund, Inc. beefsteak dinner will be for Friday, July 3, at 7 p.m.  “under the tent” at Gardner Field, Rt. 46 West in Denville. Tickets, $45 per person, include an “all you can eat”  beefsteak dinner. Chicken franchaise will also be served family style.  Lip Sync entertainment will be provided by local civic organizations and the third annual Bread Castle Contest will be held. Recycling center closed
Please be advised that the Mc Veigh Recycling Center on Mt. Hope Road and the Municipal Garage Recycling Center on Green Pond Road will be closed on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 due to the holiday. Avot on the Agam
Spend Shabbat afternoon at Beach No. 1 with a good book and lively discussion. The teachings of Pirkei Avot, "the Ethics of Our Fathers," with Rabbi Adler leading discussion.  No prior knowledge is necessary. Bring the kids/grandkids and let them play in the sand while parents play with the words and meanings. Fireworks in Denville
Denville will host its annual fireworks display on Saturday, July 4, at Gardner Field,  off Route 46 West. Emil Stucchio & the Classics will play music from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the upper pavillion at Gardner Field.  The fireworks display will begin after the band finishes (approximately 9:30 p.m.) The rain date is Sunday, July 5, at the same times.

Boating Basics
A “Boating Basics” course will be offered by NJ Boating Safety Classes in Denville, Sunday, July 5.   Course meet the needs of boaters and personal watercraft (PWC) operators basic overview, while meeting the "New" NJ Law state requirements for boating safety education certification.   Fee $65; covers course and materials. Family fun day
Craigmeur Recreation Complex, 1175 Green Pond Road in Rockaway Township, will be open to the general public for Family Fun Day, July 5. Come for food, rides, and games, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Rain or shine.

Free Concerts at Park Lake Gazebo
The Gazebo Committee of the Rockaways will present free summer concerts, every Sunday, 3 to 5 p.m. at the Gazebo, Park Lake, Mount Hope Rd., Rockaway.  In case of bad weather, concerts will be held at the Rockaway Twp. Municipal Building, 65 Mt. Hope Rd.  Seating is limited.  Chairs will be provided; food and drinks not permitted.  Date are: July 5, Total Eclipse Band, variety music; July 12, Rockaway Comm. Free Blood pressure screening

How to Think Like Da Vinci
Discover new ways to think creatively in a two-session interactive workshop at Rockaway Township Library. On Thursday, July 9 and 16, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., participants will develop a mind map, sketch a life timeline, try being ambidextrous. Benefit Golf Outing
On Thursday, July 9, Eleventh Hour Rescue will hold its second Benefit Golf Outing at The Knoll Country Club, Parsippany.  Event will feature various contests, including a chance to win a new car or island vacation. At the silent auction, participants will be bidding on items such as signed sports memorabilia, restaurant gift certificates, sporting event tickets, spa packages, signed artwork and more. Lunch, cocktail reception, and dinner are included. The day begins with registration at 11:30 a.m., lunch at noon, and a 1 p.m. shotgun start.  Cost for participation is $175 for golfers; $75 per person, for those wishing to enjoy dinner and cocktails.

Shabbat Service

Community Blood Drive
Due to the extreme shortage of blood supplies, the Denville Township PRIDE Council is sponsoring a community blood drive on Saturday, July 11, in the Community Room of the Municipal Building from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. No reservations are needed.

Pal Fun Run
Denville PAL is sponsoring a Fun Run on Saturday, July 11, at Gardner Field, a fundraiser for Valleyview Cross Country, open to non-Denville residents.  Registration is $15 per person or $30 per family.  Register early and receive a T-shirt.  Participants need to find sponsors.  Call Kathy Vita at 973-727-7590 for more information.

Zumba Workout
On Sunday, July 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the White Meadow Temple, 153 White Meadow Road in Rockaway join Zumba, a fusion of Latin and International music that creates a dynamic, exciting, fun and effective workout.         Class taught by Kathy Graham, a certified Zumba instructor.  Cost is $10.  Bring water and small towel and wear cross training sneakers and workout clothes. Golf Outing
The Community Children’s Museum will hold its 4th annual Golf Outing at Picatinny Arsenal Golf Club in Picatinny on Monday, July 13, with a tee time at noon to benefit the children of Northern New Jersey.  Fun day of golf, food, and great prizes.  Cost per golfer is $135 and includes a barbecue lunch, buffet dinner, beverages and greens and cart fees. Volunteers are wanted by RSVP, the volunteer resource center in Morris County, for a unique writing project. Help to bring a new “Life Book” Writing Project to the community. Be matched with a senior living in assisted living or independent living facilities. Dermaview, Diabetes Screening
Rockaway Twp. residents are invited Monday, July 20, from 4 to 6 p.m. to the Rockaway Twp. Library, 61 Mt. Hope Rd., to look into the “Dermaview” and expose areas on their face that have permanent sun damage.  Information will be provided on how to prevent further damage along with educational handouts.  Free, no registration.  At the same time, test blood sugar and the risk for type II diabetes with a non-fasting finger stick; get immediate results.  Sponsored by the Rockaway Twp. Junior Police Academy
Applications are available for the Denville Junior Police Academy at the Denville Police Department.  Applications may also be downloaded from www.denvillepolice.org/home.html. The academy will take place July 20 through July 24 at the Morris County School of Technology, 400 East Main St., Denville, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Applicants must be Denville residents in grades five though eight.  Fee is $20.  Check or money orders should be made out to: Denville Junior Police Academy.  Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Play Wii Sports at Library
Rockaway Township Library invites you to bowl, golf, or hit a homer with its new Wii video game system, Thursday July 23, from 10 a.m. to noon.  Bring your friends and family, since up to four can play.  The Wii program is free and open to Rockaway Township residents, ages 12 and up.  The library is located on 61 Mount Hope Rd., Rockaway. Rainbows
Rainbows is a peer support program for children who have experienced grief through a death or divorce in the family. Registration for the summer program is being accepted.  Session will run now through Aug. 4.   Meetings every Tuesday 7 - 7:45 p.m. at Saint Francis Residential Community Center, 122 Diamond Spring Road, Denville.  Small groups are forming for children.  There are no fees to parents. StrollerFit
Discover the workout that turns a stroller into a portable fitness machine. StrollerFit-Exercise with your Baby would like to invite mothers and their children to join us in celebrating motherhood, fitness and friendship. Exercises include cardio, strength training and core exercises all the while keeping the baby stimulated. The first class is free.
